Forgot to add the cheese and it was still very yummy. also substituted turkey bacon and fat-free mayo - my husband couldn't tell the difference.

I made this broccoli salad for the first time and took it to a family reunion. The folks in the back of the line didn't get any because the bowl was scraped clean! It's already been requested for our next reunion.

I tried this at my husbands request. I do NOT like broccoli and refuse to eat it. I did try this and it is the first time I can say that I actually ate broccoli and love it. This is really good.

I love this salad. I actually made one very similar to it last year, but I lost the recipe. I actually didn't have any bacon or ham (the recipe I had called for diced ham, and I would have added hard boiled eggs for a protein, but I forgot. I did add in roasted sunflower seeds for a nice crunch, and used extra sharp white cheddar which gave it a nice flavor. My dressing was too runny, but that was my fault. Firstly, I used red wine vinegar (my original recipe called for that, and I didn't have white, and I doubled the amount, because I thought the original amount given yielded too sweet a sauce. I should have added in more mayo to compensate, but cest la vie. The ladies at my church I served this to loved it regardless. Thanks, Paula, for a fine recipe that is very forgiving with substitutions!

I love this basic recipe for this salad but I changed some things I used splenda instead of reg sugar, added dried cranberries instead of raisins, used low sodium/sugar bacon, and shredded mozzerella cheese instead of cheddar. The best also was to adda bit of garlic powder and black pepper to dressingand don't dress it till you are going to serve. You will definately enjoy this healthy alternative. Everyone loves it and you don't have to feel bad so have 2 bowls.
