We have started adding garlic powder and Italian seasoning under a pat of Smart Balance with no salt. The kitchen smells great when cooking. I found if you pinch the cheese into a little wad before you put it on the tomatoes more cheese stays on top while broiling. I hate cooked tomatoes, even in an omelette, but we love this recipe. This one is a keeper.

Very disappointing. Maybe fresh tomatoes next time (steamed, a little oregano, a little garlic.

I know that the people viewing Paula Deen really love her but I have not found her to be a good cook.......Adding cream, sugar and butter to every recipe does not a competent chef make....... She is a shrewd business woman, though.......the fact that she manages to include her sons, husband, brother and daughter in laws in so many of her shows and pay them for their "contributions (?" is an ingenious family venture.........

I was very excited to try this recipe b/c it was so easy and reviews were high. I was very disappointed. The butter added nothing to flavor, it just make little pool of grease in the pan. Cheese was charring black after 3 minutes under my broiler. I am an experience chef so execution wasn't the issue. I prefer the Chez Panisse method I saw Alice Water's make years ago: Fresh tomatoes, drizzled with olive oil, roasted in high over with fresh herbs.

This dish has become a regular side dish for our family. It is simple, yet has wonderful flavor. It's a winner! I grind fresh black pepper on top of the Parmesan cheese, which adds to the appearance.

My husband and I have been married for a year and a half, and we have a "star" system for meals. 1 star=terrible, 2 stars=so-so, 3 stars=good, 4 stars=very good, 5 stars=amazing. This is the first 5 star rating my husband has given anything since we've been married. He said he wanted to be very selected with his 5 stars. Thanks Paula!

I thought these were just OK, if that. I think fresh tomatoes (in season cut in thick slices would be much better and I will try that in couple of months when mine turn red.

I could not believe how delicious and simple this dish was. I loved broiled fresh tomatoes in the summer time but since you use canned tomatoes, you can have the same taste all year round. Use a lot of cheese for the best results.
