This pie turned out excellent! Just the right amount of lime. As for the "Native Floridian's" comment, the cream of tartar was for the meringue, not the pie. I didn't try the crust with almonds, but next time I think I will. I didn't this time because I didn't have any on hand. I would also add, putting it in the fridge will help it set up real good! It was gone within 24 hours and I only got one slice!

While I have not yet tried the recipe, I can tell by reading it that it will work very well. However, it is not the same as Paula baked on the show. The pie she baked had a whipped cream topping, and was baked prior to adding the topping.

This recipe looks like other Key Lime Pie recipes with out the Cream Cheese.
Does leaving out the cream cheese effect the consistency of this pie? Does leaving out the Cream Cheese change the taste? Is the pie runny? It looked like on the show Paula had a hard time serving it because it had not set well.I want to make this recipe but was not sure about the cream cheese thing. Did any of you that made it by the recipe find the pie to be runny?

I made four of these pies for a dinner party that included Paula's Low Country Boil, hushpuppies and slaw. It was a hit! I don't know what pushes it way over the top - almonds in the crust or lime zest in the meringue? It was fabulous and easy!

While I did not use any cream of tartar it ws because I don't have any on hand & it still worked out BEAUTIFULLY! To be honest, my hubby {who is a professional chef} had totally stopped baking lemon merengue pies for me as his merengues weren't "behaving". He was so jealous that when I made Paula's pie for him for Father's Day that my topping was PERFECT! He ate 1/2 that night. I squeezed my own juice out of those tiny limes and did the whole zest thang and it was great. I debated adding the almonds, because my teen daughter "hates" nuts. I however love them, so they made it in...and said teen, well, she ate 1/4 of the pie!

I had a slice of this pie in Savannah yesterday. Just yummy. The made from scratch crust with lots of butter and almonds makes the pie special. Anonymous from Florida needs to know that Paula is not a fake. She is one of those colorful, strong Southern women who many of us enjoy and who rub others the wrong way. She's real and she is a survivor. Accept it.

I really love this recipe. I prepared it as Paula did on the show - with whipped cream and not meringue. I am not a fan of meringue.

I think this recipe is fabulous. It was easy to prepare and tasted divine. I will make this again. Its a great summer treat.

Not as good as the better Key Lime Pies I've made, and I couldn't figure out why. They're all just about the same; the almonds are not a big difference. Then I realized: needs a pinch of salt.

This pie is great. It's sad that the previous Floridian does everything the same time after time and cannot expand his/her cooking beyond the standards. This is a delightful version of the old favorite. Keep up the good work, Paula!
