I agree with rocdew_6856529, this recipe is poorly written. I made it twice, once as written and it was like ice milk, the second time with more fat content, hard as a rock.

This is my new favorite homemade ice cream! Really tasty and so easy! Instant pudding? Who knew! Didn't have pecans so I used walnuts and they worked just fine (in 1 tbsp butter. Will try pecans next time and it will probably be even better (if that's possible. Thanks Paula!

This ice cream is the best. We have an ice cream social at work with many diffrent ice creams and this is the one gone first and everyone always wants the recipe. I use the original recipe which calls for 1 stick of butter. What I do is melt the butter in a sauce pan and mix it with all the other ingredients except for the pecans, it helps to also melt the sugar (which is 1/2 c on original recipe. It's not waisted if you put it in with all the other ingredients and it gives this ice cream that old fashioned buttery butter pecan flavor!

I was really worried when I made this ice cream b/c I had read a couple of reviews from people who didn't care for it. Paula, I should be kicked! I knew one of your recipes wouldn't let me down. I made it on the 4th of July for my family and it was a hit. Everyone raved over how good it was!! Thanks for such a wonderful recipe.

Pound cake??? this is a review on the ice cream recipe. Perhaps the pound cake is 2 doors down on the left. My family likes this recipe very much. My original recipe called for 1 tablespoon butter not a whole stick!! Would like to know who or when it was changed. Only thing i wuld change is the amount of sugar used. Its too sweet for me. Otherwise its great!! Am going to try it with chocolate pudding next time just to see how it comes out.

I have never been a fan of pound cake since I was younger. My mom made it all the time and I became tired of it. I tried three or four other recipes and none came out how I wanted them to. But I tried this recipe and loved it and so did my husband I think he has a whole new love for my cooking

I began using this recipe last summer. At that time the recipe called for 1T butter, not the 1 stick that it calls for today. I only use 1-2T otherwise you waste almost a whole stick of butter. I don't know when it was changed or why. But it makes a very simple YUMMY butter pecan ice cream.
