I made these following the batter instructions on the box. I noticed the cones became somewhat stale?? after baking. Also, i felt like the cake batter was not cooking evenly in the center. Any ideas on how to prevent this?? I also read on-line an idea of cutting holes in one of those aluminum pans, flipping it up side down, inserting the cones in the holes to keep them from tipping over and then placing the pan on a cookie sheet for baking. This really worked. Furthermore, these CAN get messy. Another tip i found on this same website is to pour the batter in a large ziploc bag, then cutting one of the bottom corners and use this to pour the batter in each cone.

I didn't like the texture of the cones after baking, and the cupcake batter did not tunr out quite to my liking, so I baked cupcakes separately then fitted them into the cone openings with no problem and iced them.

A great dessert especially for a childs party. But even for adults, they are just wonderful. Easy to eat and fun too.

I made these first by myself and they turned out great!! Next I made them with my two grankids(6 & 4 yrs. and again they turned out great, but, this time it was extra great because of my "helpers". Every parent with young ones should try these, thanks Paula, keep up the good work.

My son was to bring the treat for his kindergarten class. These were relatively quick, fun, and darling! For a homemade treat for kids, you cannot beat these. To transport, my hubby put aluminum foil over a muffin pan and a 9x13...then poked holes for the cones. It worked great.

I baked these for a family BBQ and then set up an area for the kids to decorate. Color some of the frosting and bring out chocolate chips, spinkles, red hots, and thinly slices strawberries and see the imaginations go wild! The consistancy of the cake is not quite right, but a great activity.

I've been making these for my daughter for 20 years (Thanks Kathy!! A great trick to keep them from falling over during baking is to put some mini-chocolate chips in the bottoms of the cones, just enough to coat the bottom of the cone. This helps with the weight distribution and is a great surprise for the kiddo's when they get to the bottom!
Enjoy!

When baking, I normally get good results. For some reason, the cake in the cones weren't cooked all the way through.
