This cake was good, but not amazing. The cake was a nice texture, but was slightly dry. I would make the cake part of it another time for a different recipe. Next time, however, I think I will add more cocoa powder. It could have been chocolatier. The frosting, on the other hand, set way too much to become fudgy and crystallized. Crystallized! It was disappointing! Do not melt the candy bars in your frosting!!! I think that's what caused the hardening. Just roughly chop them and put them on top. Overall, the flavor was good. The textures were pretty off though.

Daughter loved this cake! Cooking was a little longer than stated, but not a big deal. Had no problems at all with the icing. I did let the cake cool some, & "tempered" the icing a bit by removing it from the heat & gently folding it over on itself several times til it was cooler. Icing came out smooth, glossy, & pliable. The cake actually tasted better with time. 1st day, seemed a bit dry, but day 2 & 3, delicious. What happens after day 3, I have no idea. It was gone by then!

I just watched Paula making this on Tv. I like the way it looks in the picture better. Not so much icing and the candy bars are cut on top not melted.

MMMHMMHM Soooooo good! We didn't change ANYTHING,BUT the cooking time. I agree with some of the other reviews. The cooking time needs to almost be doubled...We cooked the cake for mabey 40-42 min. I don't know where the 22 min came from? Some ppl said the icing was rock hard after the fact. It was delic to me!

I really hate to give a poor review - I think I've given maybe 3 over the years - but this cake was not good at all. It lacked flavor, and the icing not only tasted terrible, it hardened into a rock within 30 minutes. Also, like other reviewers , it took 40 minutes to bake, not 22. We ended up throwing it in the garbage, I'm sorry to say. I really have to ask whether or not they tested this recipe before showing it on the air. I just don't seem to have good luck with Paula's recipes, but I love watching her. Guess I'll stick with Ina, Emeril, Anne and Alton.

I tried this cake today. Recipe is simple & easy to follow. AND this was the 1st time that I was baking a cake. EVER & guess what, it came out very well. I had to bake it 5 mins more than 22. (Probably coz I used a 10 inch baking pan instead of 9. But the cake came out real soft and moist throughout.

I however messed up on the frosting. From one of the reviews I used just 1 cup of confectioners’ sugar but used the same amount of butter and plain milk as advised as such the frosting was very liquid. So I added 1/2 cup confectioner sugar. Even after that the frosting was still liquid like and it became extra sweet. And then when it cooled on the cake it became glass like. Also since I didn't have any snickers I used Hershey's dark choc bars

Overall I would rate the cake as very delicious and it was good the next day as well. We are eating it without the frosting. I’ll try it again with a different frosting or try and improve on the frosting provided. Thanks for the recipe.
