I thought the cheese filling and apple topping were good. I didn't care for the bland crust and there was entirely too much streusel. I'll make these again but will use a different crust recipe and only 1/3 the streusel.

This dessert was super delicious -- It exceeded my expectations. I dislike desserts that are too sweet so I was suspcious when I read other reviews that said it was too sweet even without the carmael. It turned out that this dessert was not too sweet at all, it was perfect. Maybe it was because of the tart Granny Smith's that I used. Anyhow I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of both cheescae and apple crisp -- It's a really great fusion of the two and just a great dessert in its own right.

One thing, though -- it says 4 to 6 servings. I cut the pan into 15 squares, and most people only ate two at most because they were so rich.

This is the best dessert ever!! They are so good it is hard to stop eating after one. In fact, it's almost impossible to only eat one. A friend ate 6 of them at one sitting. This is a recipe that I will make over and over again. You go Paula!

I also made this for superbowl, and it is scrumptious! Brought left overs to work and they also enjoyed. I believe the sugar issue was corrected at some point. I printed it out in January, and it was not listed where to add it. Thankfully I noticed something was wrong, ran to my computer and looked at the reviews again. I was able to add the sugar before all was lost!

I made these bars at the request of one of my husband's coworkers. She saw Paula make them on the show. The bars looked beautiful and made the house smell wonderful while they were baking but after taking a bite, I couldn't eat any more. These bars are supersweet. I left off the caramel topping-and I'm glad I did. Also, I love apples and I love cheesecake but I never thought they went well together. If I make these bars again I will cut the amount of sugar at least by half. I might try using strawberries or blueberries instead of the apples. Sorry, Paula, I like my sweet tea like syrup, but these bars were just too much.
