    I am the person who actually sent the recipe in to Paula Deen's magazine and it was published. I was very excited and honored. The recipe that is posted here does say to mix the 1/2 cup of sugar with the cream cheese; I did not see an error. Also, I line all of my baking pans with foil overlapping the 9" sides of the pan.
    I do this so once the bars are cool, I am able to lift the entire thing out of the pan, fold down the foil sides and cut them into perfect squares, without having to struggle with the sides of the pan. I make many dessert bars each day, and this method is much less time consuming for me. The streusel topping does make more than 1 cup of streusel topping. Thank you.
