Ingredients
- 1 package chewy brownie mix (recommended: Duncan Hines)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Prepare the brownie mix according to the package directions. Pour batter into a greased 9 by 13-inch pan. Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Add the pecans and sugar and cook, over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sugar dissolves. Drizzle the caramel mixture over brownie batter and bake until a toothpick can be inserted and withdrawn cleanly, 25 to 30 minutes.

I have made this recipe a few times and the brownies are tasty. However, the way this recipe is written, the topping will not be of a consistency that can be "drizzled". It's a moist topping that definitely must be "crumbled" over the brownies. Allow a few minutes for the topping to cool enough to handle in order to crumble by hand. Lightly press the topping into the brownies with the back of a wooden spoon. This is a quick and easy way to dress up brownies from a box!

This is a great and delicious recipe, but it most be the most sugar full desert that i have eaten. My friends and family have enjoyed this delicious, easy, and fun way of making a simple dish, yet have it taste so good.

The way Paula makes this on the video, and the way the recipe instructions are written, don't match.
The video shows the butter and brown sugar and nuts crumbled on top of the batter before baking, and she uses a store-bought caramel for the topping and heats it up to melt it. ( The store-bought caramel topping is not adressed in the written recipe . The brown sugar and butter are NOT melted for the topping in the video. Watch the video to see how its done.
Your results will be right, if you follow the video. :
