This is my new favorite way to update a box of brownies. These taste so delicious, and take hardly any effort. I could have eaten the whole pan myself. I followed the advice of others and just crumbled the softened butter/brown sugar/pecan mixture over the batter. The recipe is written incorrectly, so don't melt the brown sugar mixture. These are so rich they can stand alone, adding ice cream and caramel sauce just seems like overload.

Brownies are my favorite dessert so I'm always trying something new. I baked the duncan hines with 2 eggs in a 9x13 pan. They were very chewy, which people liked. The crumb caramel topping looked good when out of the oven, but we ended up eating them at room temp and the caramel by that time just tasted like brown sugar. I will try again and may use someone elses suggestion to increase the butter. Very easy and tasty.

I just printed this recipe from the website and noticed it's completely different from how Paula prepared it on the show. She combined the softened butter and brown sugar in a bowl with a fork (almost paste-like then crumbled it on top of the brownie batter. Has anyone tried the version she prepared on the show? Seems as if the recipe on the web site didn't fair so well. Thanks all!

These are a keeper. I shared a batch with a friend for her Birthday she and her husband thought they were to die for. My husband who is not a brownie fan loved them. Thanks Paula

Thank goodness for reviews! I also saw the episode and noticed the difference in the on-line receipe. I ALMOST attempted the receipe then at the last minute read the reviews. Thank you all! The brownies turned out fabulous!

I watched the show and this is not how Paula actually made the brownies. I read recipe to see how much brown sugar and butter to use. She did not heat it up she simply miced together sugar butter and nuts and crumbled it over uncooked brownies. Is it necessary to hast them mixture up first as in the directions listed here are do as Paula did
