Great recipe. I added a smidgeon more shortening based on other reviewer comments. I didn't have self-rising flour, so I made it by adding 3 tsp baking powder and 1 tsp salt to 2 cups all-purpose flour. My family really enjoyed these.

Very good recipe. I made it without shortening, just added 1-2 tablespoon butter. Thank you Paula!

These biscuits are really delicious and couldn’t be more simple! I bake the biscuits for about 15 mins, depending on the size, before brushing the tops with melted butter, to which I add dried parsley and about ¼ teaspoon of garlic power. Then I pop them back in for a minute or two more to get them nice and brown. Just keep an eye on them. I also add about ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder to the batter before baking. They quickly became a staple at many a Sunday dinner. Tasty, soft, and wonderful!

Yummmmm! Cooked them in a muffin pan. Perfect Southern biscuits! Adding garlic next time.

just add a little lemon juice to your cream to get a type of butter milk
The biscuits are great. Moist and fluffy. Family loves them.

These were good and easy to make. I used 2% milk and they tasted just fine but I think if I would have used buttermilk it probably would have made them tast better.

the person who use regular all purpose flour can use baking soda with the all purpose flour to help the biscuits rise
