I followed the recipe except for the baking temperature. On her show she said 350 so thats what I did. They turned out wonderful. I let the cheese and butter sit out for an hour before I started and after putting the dough into the gallon baggie I didn't have any problem forming the straws. Thanks Paula

I have made this recipe about 5 times now and love it! It always brings in rave reviews. I use the ingredients as indicated in recipe, but i mix it by hand (literally with my hands until it holds together, about 5 minutes. I also roll the "dough" into 3 logs, and refrigerate for 15-20 mins. Then I slice them in 1/4" slices and bake as directed. SPECTACULAR!

I can't believe that Paula has this recipe on here. I spent at least 8 dollars to make these and i had to throw them away. I had a dinner party and thought these would go good with my meal, but i ended up being embarrest, they were very salty and i used unsalted real butter. I suggest Paula that you take this recipe off of foodnetwork.com before someone else ends up making the same mistake i did, please

I also used Sherry's recipe also for this.. it was really good but i thought it was too stiff to squeeze thru a bag so I spread it out on my counter and used a pizza cutter to slice up the straws. They came out good, but alittle salty. Will be a great appetizer to add to my next birthday party.

Don't know what I did wrong. Followed the online recipe to a "T". Couldn't even get them off the pan without them breaking up. Something about puting 2 strips 5 inches long and 2 inches wide did not work. They looked like elongated pancakes andno way could get 5 dozen that way. They were cheesy, but threw out whole batch.

So I made this recipe and I tweaked it a bit I made it with pepper jack cheese... I kneeded it like bread and patted it out, it baked perfectly @ 350 for 12min

First, let me say it looks like they corrected the web recipe-except for the temperature. Sherry in Oceanside Ca posted the correct recipe and if you follow it and bake @ 350, these turn out GREAT!!! I had to cut baking time to 12 minutes, but otherwise I followed the show recipe (which I had copied at that time. I also used a cookie press-if you use a cookie press be sure it's a heavy duty one, or else be sure you've got some real muscle to use! I suggest trying this recipe now-(and remember these are "cheese" straws-they are supposed to taste cheesy.......

I made these and threw away the whole batch - they didn't even remotely cook at the temperature or the time specified! Awful.

Easy to put together, but still don't even bother. Made for a Southern BBQ that we were invited to...and they came out so poorly that I trashed the entire batch as I would be embarassed to share with family. Several issues, not just one. Based on other reviews I expected that the 'dough' would be too thick for a pastry bag...this is true, I ended up hand rolling...which would have been okay if they tasted good. Unfortunately these tasted awful: too salty, heavy flour taste and they did not hold together well, breaking apart if not picked up very carefully.
