I made this exactly as the recipe states but mine was "mushy". I am going to try frozen broccoli next time. I was very easy though & had great flavor. Family loved it, I just can't stand soft veggies like it turned out.

My husband and I liked this dish. It tasted a lot like broccoli with a good cheese sauce. However, it was very rich and thick. The flavor was good but if I'm going to consume the calories I would rather it be something else. One out of my three kids liked it so that was a bonus. I guess we'll stick to plain old steamed broccoli

Used fresh broc and steamed for only 5 minutes to retain crispness. Used low-fat Jalepeno pepper jack instead of cheese product and low fat cheddar on top. used low sodium and low fat cream of mushroom soup. I used regular butter though. The result was delicious, not soupy or soggy at all, and still had richness without being over-powering. Will definitely make again!

I made this the other night for dinner and it was a big hit. I added chicken and pasta and an extra can of soup to make it a whole meal. All the favors just go together. I loved the crunch of the water chestnuts. Will make again!

This is a basically great dish, but the softened cheese product is Velveeta (or the like which tastes like Elmers glue, but is often used because it melts well. I substitute softened Monterey Jack cut into small pieces which helps it melt, and add a little milk to add liquid.
The dish is also improved by adding TWICE as much grated cheddar on top, and throwing in a handful or two of cashews in for extra crunch.

Paula, you've done it again, girl! Our whole family loved this, except my dad, who just flat out refuses to eat broccoli. Even my picky daughter liked this. True comfort food and a delicious side dish to any meal! Yum!
