Ingredients

  • Butter
  • 12 slices white bread
  • 8 large slices deli ham
  • 4 bananas, sliced on the bias
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar
  • 2 cups crushed potato chips
  • 6 slices cooked and crumbled bacon
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup cream
  • Pinch freshly grated nutmeg
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Butter a 9 by 13 glass baking dish. Butter both sides of the bread and layer 6 of them into the bottom of the baking dish, overlapping them as necessary but keep them even. Layer the slices of ham on top of the bread and then the bananas, 6 more slices of bread, then the cheese, potato chips, and bacon. In a separate bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, cream, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Pour this over the casserole almost to the top. Bake for 45 minutes until brown and bubbly. Cut into squares and remove with a spatula, like lasagna

I was quite skeptical when I saw Paula Make this recipe. But, I had the ingredients on hand and decided to try it. What a horrible tasting dish. My daughter (7 at the time and husband and I all remember this not fondly. We use it as a joke when we want to know "what's for dinner". Paula, you should pull the show, and this recipe for good.

what an egregious and obscene recipe- why doesn't Paula get it, that she is obese and old before her time as a direct result of her horrid cooking? Not recommended for human beings.
I would rate this a minus 2 if I could.

This was a very interesting recipe and tried it out on just my husband................I wanted to test it out first, to make sure I liked it, before I served it to guests. You never know, ever ones tastes buds are different and I didn't want a disaster. Turns out, even my husband liked it and I'll try it out on my family at the next family function. I've read some of the reviews, and it sounds to me that people should think about such different food combinations that they might not like, before trying out a recipe for the first time for guests..........I have no sympathy for people who don't like a recipe they serve to guests, before trying it out, experimenting with it, first. Also, if you don't feel you would like a banana in this recipe, try pinapple, instead.............even Paula, herself, said she couldn't believe how many people put pinapple on pizza.......taste buds are all relative..........
