This was very tasty and I think the "secret" ingredient was the sherry. I made this for a Midwestern potluck and chose the recipe because it was different from the typical hot dish. As it was for a large group, I added extra broth, soup, and noodles to add to the volume. I also threw in some shallots sauted in butter. Because I didn't have access to a stove for the event we attended, I placed this in a crock pot to serve. It received RAVE reviews. Thank you! This will be on my list of dishes to share for a very long time!

Trimmed this recipe down and it was still good -- used fat free soup and fat free cheese which will cut down on the salt, fat and calories. Since the chicken is cooked, you can taste -- I didn't have almonds so substitued sliced water chestnuts - worked great -it added the crunch that this needed - I did add a little knosher salt. I don't use a lot of her recipes because of the health issues with her ingredients. I am Southern but realize that the "good old cooking days" are over if you want to survive -I am 65 ---I continue to tweak the old recipes so I don't keel over in the kitchen - but if I do -- please wrap up a little piece of Crisco and put it in my casket!

Very easy to make and very tasty. to switch things up i might try cream of chicken soup next time. i also think i would like it better without the almonds but the almonds are good too. Nice and creamy. i also used diced roasted red peppers instead of pimentos because i happen to have some. came out just fine.

Delicious and easy. Paula, you killed it once again! I don't use the pimentos or mushrooms out of personal taste, but still great - it tastes just like what my mother used to make.

I cut way back on the cheese and put french fried onions on top instead. Holy cow, SO GOOD! Hubs doesn't care for casseroles, but he's been talking about this all week.

Yum yum good. Made with rice, kid friendly version. Used cream of brocoli, sauted fresh onions, mushrooms, garlic, and celery. Added sour cream and instead of chicken I used turkey. Great dish!

I built this exactly as described; I would have liked to add some heat to it and probably will next time. I will make this AGAIN and AGAIN! Thank you, Paula!
