I thought this was the most disgusting thing to cook and look at when I saw Paula make it on TV. My husband talked me into making it. I am so glad he did. My 5 year old and I made this easy and quick dish. My whole family of six ate this up like candy. I did not put ketchup or the sugar my dish. That Paula sure does have a sweet tooth. I did put mine of spaghetti instead of rice. YUMMY!

A very tasty recipe!!! Usually my husband is not fond of barbecue, but he really liked this dish and went for the second helping! I highly recommend this!!

This stew was quick and easy to make, but it was way too sweet. The next time, I'll reduce the amount of ketchup and/or BBQ sauce and will eliminate the sugar. I'll also try using whole corn and diced tomatoes.

As usual Paula's has handed out another winner. We loved this one.I left out the sugar and didn't add the liquid smoke,I used hickory smoked B.B.Q sauce and it made it smokey enough.Thought it may have had a bit to much liquid. Next time I will only had one cup of chicken broth. I felt it could have used an other can of corn it seemed to be lacking in color. I added parsley before serving on top of a bed of rice, which I cooked with some of the left over chicken broth. The flavor was great, all my clients loved it!!

This recipe is very tasty. We subtracted sugar and used half the ketchup also. We decided to use grilled chicken breasts and included 2 red potatoes and 2 carrots partially boiled before cooking. In addition, we added some of our homemade chile powder (from Alton Brownthat really made the dish memorable.

It was good. I left out the liquid smoke, beacuse my B-que sauce was already very smoky. Will make again

This is definitely different from your average beef stew. This was wonderful. I also a few variations to mine. In addition to all of the ingredients, I added a small potatoe, diced into small pieces, and a bag of frozen butter beans. In place of the sugar, I added 2 packs of sub.sweetner. This was perfect on this cold, cold night!!
    Thanks, Paula!!

I have loved all of Paula's recipes so far but found this to be too sweet. I left out the sugar and reduced the amount of ketchup as suggested by other reviews and still sound it to be to sweet. Maybe it was my choice of BBQ sauce. Sorry Paula.
