My husband enjoyed this dish, even said he would eat it again. He is not a chicken man in the slightest sense. Totally a beef and potato guy. I'm my best to keep the beef out of the house as much as possible. My only suggestion would be to add a big more kick to it. Definitely will cook it again, but might add some cumin or a few red pepper flakes. Served it with a yellow rice with green chilies, black beans and chopped avocado. Dessert will be homemade chocolate pudding with fresh whipped cream and raspberries. This was our Valentine's Day dinner. One additional point. I'm so very proud of you and your family. Keep healthy!

I've never written a review for the Food Network before. I've tried many of Paula's recipes and they have all been pretty good. This one wasn't. I think whoever was typing up this recipe was looking at something else when they typed a pint of tomato sauce, and a pint of tomatoes! There was just way too much tomato there. All you could taste was tomato sauce & tomatoes. You couldn't taste any of the other ingredients and certainly not the cocoa, which should have been the star seasoning since it was in the recipe title!
I may try this again, but I will only put one 8 oz can of tomato sauce, and one 14 oz can of diced tomatoes, and will put two teaspoons of sugar. Maybe then I will give it a better rating.
Sorry Paula this one only gets one star. :(

    Dear Paula,

I tried your Chicken with Cocoa Tomato Sauce recipe and my family loved it. Every week or so I try to introduce my family to a new recipe. I will ask a couple of times while we are eating " How do you like it?" my family loves flavor and down right good cooking. Then when dinner is over and we are clearing the table, I ask " Do you want me to make it again?" and their answer to your dish was, it is amazing and we would love to have it again. So that is why I gave you four stars and it is definitely family approved.

Bummed out. I had seen this episode and was excited to try this recipe. My hubby is a culinary arts graduate and knows his stuff, so i was thinking this would be a great chicken dish to try out. After seeing the 5 Star rating i thought it was sure to be a hit but this is not the case. Not for our spoiled palettes anyway. I love Ms Paula though, will keep coming back for more great food!

I made this last night and it was great. I tweaked it a little to make it a bit more spicy. I doubled the amount of garlic and chopped up a green bell pepper and sautéed it with the onion. I then cubed 4 raw chicken breasts and placed it and the remainder of ingredients in a large skillet and cooked it for about an hour on a low simmer. I also doubled the amount of pepper and added some creole seasoning with a few shakes of Worcestershire sauce. I think the recipe would have been fine as is, however, I live in Louisiana and we tend to have a spicier palate!! If you aren't in to spicy leave the recipe alone or just add some bell pepper.

This dish was so easy and my whole family loved the dish. I poured it over pasta instead of rice because my family does not like rice and it was still great. Will make again. It makes a good change from regular pasta sauce.
    Thank you Paula!!!!
