i like it a lot but i did put 3 very ripe bananas only 4 oz or cream cheese because i didn't have more and extra ricotta cheese and 1 1/2 teaspoon of instant coffee Hhhhhh. love it.

This came out ok for me- I'm not embarrassed to serve it but I might not make it again. I added about 1/4 cup extra sugar because it wasn't sweet enough for me, and next time I'd cut some of the cocoa out. Also, I think it's REALLY key that you use very ripe bananas to get the right flavor. I didn't mind the ricotta but I made this in the food processor to get a super smooth texture. I made it in one big graham crust and it set nicely. Being generous with the banana chips helped the overall flavor too.

Not what I expected! I cut the amount of cocoa and added some powdered sugar for some much needed sweetness. Next time, I think I will leave out the ricotta cheese. We'll see.

I made this pie last night after watching Paula make this pie. I thought it looked good. My husband spit out the first bite. My son said he would not eat anymore after a few bites. The texture with the riccota cheese is not good at all. I would NOT recommend this recipe.

While I love Paula Deen because her show cracks me up, I didn't really care for this dessert too much so I would give it a B+. The Chocolate Banana Pie didn't have the consistency I was hoping for due to the ricotta cheese as the base. It was more of a no-cook pudding. Therefore, I plated the dessert in martini glasses. While it was very simple to make, it didn't have a strong banana flavor so I should have used three bananas in the pudding itself instead of two. The recipe may also have been better if I layered the final product like a parfait in the glass with a layer of caramelized bananas, pie mixture and then cookie crumbs. I think that the parfait style would work well so its not just so much pudding and that the bananas would stand out having the pudding compliment their taste. If I were having a party, I would have plated the dessert in shot glasses instead of martini glasses because it was a very thick, rich dessert. Overall, it really wasn't one of Paula's best, but I can see this being effective for a quick dessert for a party or a working mother. It was very easy so those just learning how to cook will appreciate it. But, remember the texture might turn some people off if you are not a fan of the cheese (it's a little gritty.

I wrote about it on my blog: http://erinmarieseats.blogspot.com/2010/03/making-banana-dessert.html

Oh my goodness! I watch Paula frequently and try many of the recipes from all of the food network shows but this has to be the worst ever!! It sounds great and maybe it could be if it is reworked. The Ricotta cheese has got to go! Please leave the Italian cheeses to Giada and stick to your fattening cheeses and butter! This pie needed a smooth consistency and it was very grainy and inedible. Just like the other reviewer, I took one bite and had to throw the whole pie out! What a waste of a pie that could have been delicious with a smoother ingredient! Sorry Paula - that one was gross!!!

I would put less cocoa powder, it seemed a little grainy. Mine also got a little thicker than I had expected.
