This has become a favorite with family and friends. I add nuts and omit the almond extract. Soooooooooo good!

I have never been a big bread pudding fan but this was Yummy!! Of course I can never make anything the way the recipe reads, so this is how I made it....I used left over english muffins that needed to be used used up. I didn't have whole milk, heavy cream or any liquior, so I used 1% milk and coconut milk in place of the heavy cream and liquior. Of course you can never have enough chocolate so I put in 1 1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips. It was so yummy, everybody loved it.

Had a bag of 5-day old bakery hamburger buns on my counter-they were still soft-ish and hated throwing them out. My son is a chocoholic so I immediately thought of Chocolate Bread Pudding. I saw Paula's recipe and was intrigued by the "coffee liquer" (I used Kaluha, the extracts & the two sugars. I halved the recipe and did weigh the buns so my proportion of liquid to bread would not be way off. I used all 1% milk, as I didn't have cream or even whole milk. It turned out STELLAR!!! I'm from Louisiana and I know that you can make bread pudding from anything. The best results are had when the proportion of custard (basically milk, egg, sugar, vanilla to bread (any kind will do-even cinnamon rolls is right. Letting the bread soak up the liquid is a must. I used chocolate chips as well but want to try this with the grated chocolate. Will make this again, soon and often.

Bread pudding is my favorite dessert if I had to pick one, and this is one of the best I've had. Very interesting mix of flavors with the coffee, cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla and almond. When you give it a beautiful presentation your guests will be really impressed.

Great recipe! I think it makes a difference if you use chocolate chips instead of taking the time to grate the chocolate. The grated chocolate melts into the bread more. I did not find this lacking in chocolate! : Did not use almond extract as I simply do not care for it.

A little heavy on the almond extract and a little light on the chocolate.
