This was a great recipie! it turned out delicious! i skipped the almond extract, substituted hershey syrup, water and instant coffee for the coffee liqueur, and added chopped pecans throughout the mix as well as on top. I also had to keep it in the oven for eighty minutes for it to bake enough to serve. I have already had requests to bring this to holidays!

I'm a big bread pudding fan and also a traditionalist. Chocolate bread pudding has to be stellar to win me over. This one is. I skipped the almond extract too, because I was out, replaced it with black seal rum. As for the suggestions that it doesn't need the rum sauce...insane. Bread pudding without rum sauce is like peach cobbler without the ice cream. Just should never happen.

Excellent. Skipped cinnamon; used dark cocoa + extra Tbsp, and vanilla bean (1 good-sized pod instead of extract. Richest bread pudding I've ever had. Not a big fan -- find b.p. too mooshy, like geriatric hospital food -- but this pops. Used Italian Shepherd's bread. Rustic, herbal, or sourdough would ruin it. W/ soft bread, 15 min soak is fine. Good w/ creme fraiche or plain. Skipped flambe: sounds great, but the pudding is so rich that adding rum & caramel would overdo it. The star is the dark chocolate, though next time I might throw in some toasted pecans or filberts, for fun.

I added another 1/2 cup of chips, skipped the almond extract and think it needs to be held for more than an hour to let the bread get to more of a pudding stage. Otherwise, the flavor was great and it has a very nice chocolatey, gooey goodness. I'll make it again.

Excellent recipe! Made it for a Friday night get-together when I got home from work and it was ready to eat when guests arrived. It was a smash hit!

This bread pudding was easy to make and turned out beautifully. It definitely was a highlight of Thanksgiving. I did only use 1/2 t of almond extract and I think it was a good amount, I would use 3/4 t at the MOST.

This was moist and everyone enjoyed it. I will make this dessert again. Thanks Paula!

Made this for dessert when the parents came for dinner the other weekend. It was to die for! I didn't make the sauce to go along with it but served it with whipped cream instead inside of martini glasses. It was even good for leftovers the next day heated up in the microwave. It's a keeper!

Very very good. I don't want to think about how many calories are in this, but if you want to splurge, this is the one to use! So moist, flavorful, and I found myself sneaking 3rds, 4ths, and 5ths haha
