ADD THE POTATO MIXTURE VERY SPARINGLY!!

This will turn out much better if you add the potato mixture to the sugar and only use 1/2 of the potato mixture. Add more if you need it but if you add too much potato you'll get a runny mixture.

Mix the potatos the day befor so as to be completely cool.

I love Paula's recipes, but this one is definetely not a winner. I always read the reviews before trying out any of your recipes. The reviews for this recipe not so good, and jet, went ahead and tried it. Let me tell you !!BIG MISTAKE!! Did not come out right. Paula, I think you did something else to this recipe that you are not telling.

If your mixture is dissolving into soup when you add the sugar, you're probably using potatoes that are still warm. They have to be completely cooled off before you add the sugar, otherwise the moisture in the potatoes will liquify the sugar. Also, when you cook the potatoes, make sure that you drain off the water when they're done cooking, return the potatoes to the pot and heat them a little longer to drive off any excess moisture. Hope this helps!

With this recipe add about a cup of peanut butter. And you need to add more of the sugar until you can pick the batch of candy up with your hands This is something like I grew up on, but we used left over mashed potatoes and the sugar and a lot of it because it will always get soupy before it comes together ,be patiet, it takes a while a we rolled it out thin then spread the peanut butter on and rolled it like a jelly roll and cut it butfor making eggs add the potatoes, peanut butter together then the sugar, and just keep adding sugar till you are able to work it and form the egg.

    Ms. Deen,

I was so surprised to see a recipe for what I grew up knowing as potato candy. My mom would make this candy only she would roll it out like a pie shell, spread peanut butter all over it. Then roll it like a jelly roll, slice it and serve it. Boy what a treat. I of course could never make it as good as mom did. Thanks you for the flash back. Make it a wonderful day.

I just watched Paula make these cute chocolate eggs, and couldn't wait to get the recipe to make them for my nieces and nephew. After reading the reviews, however, I am very sceptical. On air, Paula said she added a stick of butter to mashed potatoes. (She did not specify the amount of potato But the amount of potato she added to the confectioner's sugar looked like maybe a quarter cup to half a cup. Nowhere near two potatoes and a stick of butter.

I too, as everyone said before, tried this recipe very excited to get some yummy desserts, and was very disappointed. When I added the sugar, the whole mixture turned to soup and never got hard. Did they change the recipe?
