Ingredients

Directions

Preheat fryer with peanut oil to 350 degrees F.

Separate pre-cut biscuits. Make a hole in the middle with your hand and sculpt dough into a doughnut shape. Place doughnuts into fryer and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, flipping to fry both sides. Place doughnuts aside onto a paper towel lined plate to remove excess oil.

Melt the chocolate and butter in a saucepan over very low heat. Stir in the sugar, alternating with the evaporated milk, blending well. Raise the heat to medium and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Lower the heat and cook, stirring, until the mixture becomes thick and creamy, about 8 minutes. Stir in the vanilla then remove the pan from the heat.

Stick a fork through the doughnut holes and dip the doughnuts immediately into the chocolate mixture before the chocolate starts to cool. Place the doughnuts on a plate and serve when the chocolate on the doughnuts sets, about 5 minutes.

I made these for my two grandchildren, ages 3 and 6. The large canned biscuits worked well and we made donut holes using a "Loving Cup" we got on a Royal Caribbean cruise. My 3 year old grand daughter shook the fried donut holes in cinnamon and sugar. The chocolate frosting took a long time to thicken, but it finally did. The kiddies added sprinkles to the tops. I also used corn oil, as both children are allergic to nuts. I'd make these again. Thanks Paula!

Not sure of the kind of biscuits everyone else used but I used Grands. Next time I will cut them in half. They were good but not too good left over. I also used to the left over chocolate for ice cream and fudge!

My kids had fun making these with me. They're simple and tasty. The chocolate sauce makes a lot so we put half in the freezer and the kids have been using it for sauce on ice cream warmed up.
