Ingredients

6 large candy bars (recommended Symphony)
2 (24-inch) Styrofoam topiary trees
6 quarts strawberries
Round toothpicks

Directions

In a double boiler, melt the chocolate bars. Take 3 quarts of the strawberries and dip individual strawberries half-way into the chocolate and set on waxed paper to dry in the refrigerator.

To assemble trees: Starting at the bottom, toothpick 1 plain strawberry (stem side in) into styrofoam, then toothpick a chocolate strawberry (stem side in) into Styrofoam. Alternate plain and chocolate moving around the tree until it is covered with strawberries. Top the tree with 1 strawberry facing up vertically.

I saw these done at my sister's wedding and everyone couldn't stop raving about them. They were the hit, more impressive than... the cake! I have been trying to find people on http://www.gatheringguide.com/ec/caterers.html who do it and I think I've found a few I might like to use for my own wedding. I plan to make a few of these for a dessert reception. Also I see no picture posted, BUT if you go to google and type in... "strawberry tree" under images. It should bring up a few pictures of some examples. I can't wait to give these a try! Read more
