FIVE STAR ABSOLUTELY. This is the best Chocolate cake I have EVER made. It should be renamed ABSOLUTELY SINFUL or I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN CHOCOLATE VOLCANO CAKE. So easy, absolutely EASY to make and the cake is like one you would get in a FIVE STAR restaurant, no joke. I sprinkled coconut on top of the baked cake before pouring the chocolate glaze over the cake...WOW. Serve this wonderful cake with Vanilla Bean ice cream.

made this cake for a New Year's Eve dinner and EVERYONE loved it. I left out the candy you put in the batter because I didn't have any, but it was so good you didn't even miss it. I will make this cake again. Thanks Paula

If I make this cake again, I would double the cake mix. There was far too much white mixture in proportion to the cake and the cake ended up looking like a real volcano with big holes in it. It still tasted good, however

Very good! I think Iwill try it with other candy bars and no coconut as my son did not like the coconut. Everyone else loved it though!

This cake was fabulous. I am disappointed the recipe was not exactly like the episode. Here are the changes I made. When mixing the cake I used 1 cup buttermilk and 1/3 cup sour cream in place of the water that was called for on the box. When I mixed the cream cheese and powdered sugar I did not add the butter and it was not missed.I did put more coconut in the cream cheese mixture. I baked for 35 min and even though it didn't look done by the time it cooled the cake was perfect and moist and yummy. One other change I would make would be to put the almond joy cut up on top of the cake in the icing because they completely melt into the cake and you cant taste them.

Let me tell you what my best friend did when I made this for her 60th birthday. She took a bite, then she started to moan, and slapping the table and leaning back in her chair and got a flush on her face, and then said "Whew!!" That says it all, folks! darn that's good. ;0

Sorry Paula, I would have given 5 stars if you included the additional oil when mixing the box cake in the recipe. I guess it was about 2 tbls of corn oil to help keep the cake moist. You also forgot to mention the addition of one more egg and substitute milk for the water in the cake mix. The show and the recipe are not the same.
