I made it for Thanksgiving and Christmas, instead of Rum extract I substituted white rum and oured it over the cake while still warm. It made the cake super moist!!

What an awful recipe. This year I made this cake without testing it before Thanksgiving. It was as heavy as two or three bricks tied together. It did NOT cook through at all well. I baked it an extra 15 minutes until the toothpick came out clean. What a waste of time and ingredients. Last year I made a fig cake out of Paula's magazine (collaboration with John Besh which called for what seemed like too much baking powder but I went with it for some stupid reason, it exploded in my oven! I figured it was a typo.. I'm done with trying Paula's recipes. Very unfortunate.

Made this cake for Thanksgiving and it was a hit. Had to bake it 15 minutes longer than it called for. Kept checking it with toothpicks until it was done. It was delicious and gorgeous to present.

I have baked this cake every year since I watched the show. I personally never had a problem with it baking through. My family loves this cake and to them it is not Thanksgiving unless i bake it for them.

This cake was amazing!! After reading these reviews I was a little hesitant to try this recipe, but I'm so glad I did! It did need to be baked for about 15 minutes longer that the called for 60.

My family LOVED this so much!! This is gonna be in our file! Yummy, Thanks alot!
I cooked this for 1 hour 15 min. Last 15 min I layed a piece of foil over the top so it wouldn't get too brown. Perfection!!

After reading the reviews, I was hesitant to make this cake but went and ahead and made it anyway. I'm so glad that I did! I had no problems with the bake time, one hour, and it came out of the pan just beautifully! The "ripple" middle gives the cake a nice crunch. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars vs. 5 is because I think the glaze measurements were incorrect. I had to use 3/4-1 C. heaving whipping cream vs. the 1/2 the recipe called for. Other than that, it was a very tasty (and pretty cake to make.
