So sorry this one didn't work for me. I fancy myself a very experienced baker but this one didn't bake thru, had the same dense heavy consistancy others spoke of. The flavor was very good, don't know what happened - followed not only the recipe but had just watched the show where Paula made it with her nephew. Please re-check the recipe.

I'm reading these reviews and am so happy to see I didn't do anything wrong!! I also followed the recipe exactly and baked the cake 30 minutes longer than called for but it still did not bake all the way thru. We made it for Thanksgiving with the intention of sharing with a neighbor. Unfortunately that wasn't possible. Would love to see revisions to this recipe so we can try it again.

I made this cake for my family last thanksgiving. They all said it was the best cake they had ever ate, I am definently making it again this year.

This cake looked delicious on the show and I could not wait to try it. I followed the recipe exactly. It came out dense, with a very gummy texture. The flavor was good, but in all not a great cake. Also, the recipe for the glaze makes way too much- you can halve it and still have plenty. I do not think I will be making this one again!

My wife tried this recipe -- followed the instructions to the letter -- and we were both very disappointed with the results. As some of the other (negative reviews indicate, it came out very dense. It was very sweet, but didn't possess much character or flavor. My wife does a lot of baking and gets great results nearly every time -- but not this time. She won't be trying this one again. Good thing she made this two days before Thanksgiving -- she can now go back to one of her old standby's so we'll have something yummy for the holiday.

made this recipe and was a bit unsure of it, as it was so thick. I followed the recipe to a tee, so I got it baked, and then pulled it out and it weighed so much that I really had to use muscle to lift it out.. let it cool down, iced it , servered it, tastes is great, the icing is very very sweet, the "cake" does come out more like a very heavy sweet bread type - think heavy cinnamon roll... it is worth the time and expense., so it is a keeper.. only gave it 4 stars though, as it isn't a cake and should be labeled so as then those making it would realize how it comes out.

This was an awesome cake!!! For starters, the batter was sooooo tasty (I tried it....a couple times.

The cake was just beautiful and delicious. I followed the recipe exactly. It is dense, but that doesn't take anything away from how good it was.

If it were a bread or coffee cake, it would be 5 stars. I sifted the flour, per another reviewer, and still came out with a very thick batter and dense cake. That being said, it was absolutely delicious. My partner hates sweet potatoes but had a full piece by himself - it's that good. If we can get past what she calls this, we have a goldmine on our hands!

I think this is an Amazing Cake and I personally hate sweet potatoes. I made it for my family for thanksgiving and they all loved it! I even made it into mini bunt cakes and put them in goodie baskets. This is one that will be made for all of the family holidays!
