This is the worst recipe basically the directions did not state that the flour or any of the dry ingrediants needed to be sifted. As a result the cake was heavy and disgusting. When Paula did the recipe it looked absoulutely delicious. I made this cake for the holiday and it was a disaster please revise the recipe I was very disappointed.

GREAT BREAD! It it were called sweet potato bread it would have received five stars. my cousin sent this to me and asked me to try it so i did; for thanksgiving. when it called for one sweet potato i was like okay maybe the taste would come in from the other ingredients. the batter was super thick but i didn't think anything of it, as it cooled off and i was able to handle it was very heavy and i said this feels like bread. I didn't use the rum glaze instead a very tasty cream cheese so i can't rate the glaze. everyone thought the BREAD tasted great. Again it was called bread it would have had 5stars but since it looked, felt, and tasted like bread instead of cake it only get 2 stars.

Very Yummy. I also was hooked the minute I saw Paula and her nephew making this cake. I made it for my family on Thanksgiving, and they loved it. My husband loved it and he is not big on cake. I also took some to work and everyone there loved it as well. I thought the cake was very moist. It was not mushy at all. Not alot of sweet potato flavor, but very good. The next time I make it I think I will swirl the ripple into the batter some. It didn't fall apart when I took it out of the pan, but some of it fell apart when I sliced it. I also think it kind of tastes like a cinnamon roll. The rum glaze is great also. Thank you Paula, this one is a keeper.

This recipe sounds yummy. A Paula Deen classic.....but....I made this cake, twice, and had the same problem both times. It was like lead.I made sure I followed the directions both times. The second time I even broke a spatula trying to stir in the remaining ingredients. It was as if there was too much flour in this recipe. The streusel part was good but I couln't serve this to anyone. Sorry, Paula, but I've been cooking as long as you have and will have to make some changes if I decide to try this again!

I really liked this cake Paula. I was hooked the moment I watched you and your nephew make it. I even called my friend to tell her she needed to turn your show on to watch you make it. Happy to say we both made it for our families on Thanksgiving (Me with my family and her, with her family. It was delicious. It almost taste like a cinnamon roll and I have convinced myself I can eat it for breakfast too! I mean why not? LOL. Thanks for another winner.

This cake is a disaster, totally mushy and dense, tried to bake it twice - big failure. i think the recipe needs baking soda, and baking powder......

In the oven now! I will check back and let you know! Used 4 eggs and walnuts (didn't have pecans in the pantry. OK, looks done, top has a few cracks, light brown, tester clean - however, inside still very moist - tastes delicious - a little sweet - a little heavy - hubby likes it - I will make this again.

Something went wrong with this one!
I used my nordicware which has never failed me until this cake.
It smelled wonderful while baking. It was easy to make (I baked the sweet potato and let it cool, then mashed
It took about 20 minutes longer to bake (kept checking and the tester came back still wet. Took it out and let this cool. When I took it out of the pan it CRACKED where the "ripple" of pecans and sugar was.
Still wanted to see what it tasted like. BLAND. And MUSHY.
I noticed on the www.pauladeen.com website this called for FOUR and not THREE eggs. Not sure if that help or not. Glad I tried this recipe before Thanksgiving..
