Another Paula Deen hit! I have always had best of luck with Paula's recipes. This cinnamon roll recipe is now my go to for the best cinnamon rolls!
However, I did what others suggested and used softened butter to spread on the dough instead of melted. I also left out the raisins and nuts since most of my family doesn't like them. The cinnamon rolls were amazing!!!

My family really loves these! I made them this morning. In the filling recipe directions, it says to melt the butter and spread over the dough. Big mistake! I did this the first time and the butter was all over the counter!! This time I used softened butter, mixed the sugar mixture, and then spread it over the dough. This was so much better!! I also used a string (like for sewing buttons to cut the dough after I rolled up the dough. This made nice clean cuts and the sugar mixture didn't squeeze out of the sides. These are so yummy! Worth the wait! I made bacon to go with it for breakfast. I will probably make this again Christmas morning.

These were amazingly good and easy! I have baking experience but even a newbie shouldn't have a problem with these. I let the rolls rise for about an hr on the second rising instead of 45 min and used brown and white sugar in the filling and just just mixed those with softened butter not melted. They were in the oven for 15 min total!

I have to say this dough was so very easy to make. You first time bakers will be very pleased with it.
Now, I like the way brown sugar carmilizes so I used brown sugar and cinnimon in the center with raisins. And rather than brushing the dough with melted butter, I took 1/2 stick of room temp butter and spread it on then added the sugar/cinnimon/raisin mixture.
There are SO many ways to tweak the center to your likings which is the fun part, but the dough itself was just perfect, and remained soft for the couple of days they lasted.

I just made these YUMMY cinnamon rolls. This was my first time ever making them from scratch, not from the blue tube in the refrigerated section. If i knew it was this easy and delicious i would have done it sooner. My house smells like a bakery! I made half of the icing with oj & zest and the other half with water. Both were great!
