I read some of the reviews prior to making this dish and decided to make it exactly as the recipe read. Very moist. Wasn't too crazy about the flavor of Mace but it was not over-powering. May sub it the next time with cinnamon. Also, this recipe is much better served cold with the warm velvet chocolate drizzled over the top. I did add a little more heavy cream to the chocolate chips which made the chocolate much creamier. Would definately make this again. Thanks Paula!

The original is fabulous. I changed it and make it with Crestant Rolls (day old and add pecans and semi-chocolate chips. OMG! it tastes like a MOUNDs bar. Paula you rock my Kitchen. Harry

This bread pudding was soooo good! It tastes just like an almond joy when you top it with the chocolate sauce...definatly make the sauce as well! The bread pudding has a great coconut flavor, and it is just sweet enough. My Husband who does not like traditonal bread pudding thought it was very good! I would skip the toasted coconut garnish next time, that was a little much for me since there is already coconut in it, as well as it is topped with coconut before it's baked. This will definatly be the dessert I bring for Thanksgiving this year! It's a must make...enjoy!

I'm a southern girl and I made this for my family and it was absolutely wonderful. Instead of French bread I used Ciabatta bread (because that's what I had. I made it like the recipe, minus the Mace. By itself it was wonderful. With the chocolate sauce it was out of this world. I will definitely make this again. Probably very soon now that I'm thinking of it. I'll probably make it for our upcoming 30th anniversary on Valentine's Day. xoxo

I loved this recipie!!! The only thing I found interesting was that it slightly tasted like peach cobbler to me, which was not a problem either. It was really good and didn't even need the chocolate sauce. It was great!!!

This is the most wonderful desert ever! It was so good that I made it again after we ate the first one! I also topped with a few sliced bananas and chocolate sauce. It fit exactly in the 9x13 pan...

This was excellent however there was no way this was going to fit in a 9" square pan. Mine barely fit into a 9" x 13" pan. I also added 1/2 a can of sweetened condensed milk to make it a bit sweeter. Served it without the chocolate sauce was great alone.

I knew from the moment I watched Paula Deen make this that it would be good so I had to try it. I made it for my daughter's baptism and it was a hit. Everyone agreed that it could easily stand alone without the addition of the chocolate sauce. It just guilds the lilly really. Didn't have any mace but I don't think we missed anything. I will be making this again for Christmas. Can't wait!
