I like the presentation of individual flans. Turned out great! Bake them for about 10 minutes less than the original recipe.

This was a tasty recipe but I love flan and this was not a flan for me. The carmel did not make enough to coat the bottom of the container. Even though it spreads while cooking I would still have liked more. Also I made this in a smaller container and one in a small ramekin and I wish I hadn't. The one in the small ramekin came out great but the one in the 8" container keept wiggling even after I cooked it 20 min more than stated time. But once i took it out and let it sit it became hard. The small one came out on time with no problem. So I will make this in a glass container next time to see if the result is different in cooking. Tasty!

DO NOT USE GLASS CONTAINER FOR THIS RECIPE. Yeah, I'm not totally sure I really thought about it before I tried it but I used a glass container and it literally exploded on me. Either the caramelized sugar was WAY too hot for my container to handle or it was some cheap glass but either way, my kitchen and body are covered in trillions of glass pieces now. I was soo excited to eat some flan though :(

This is a great recipe! everyone loves it, even people that say that they don't like flan. when i cook the sugar, there is never enough to spread around the bottom of the baking dish, but dont worry, the baking process liquifies it, and it is always enough for the finished product. this is my go-to recipe when i need an easy, impressive dessert. thanks paula!

We loved this recipe the first time I made it and the second time I used coconut milk instead of the sweetened milk and it had more coconut flavor and wasn't too sweet........thanks Paula.....I love your show and your recipes.

I love this recipe! I made it several times and it was always a hit. It is fast, easy and you do not have to be an experienced cook. If you like very sweet desserts, than you will love this one! If you prefer desserts that are not very sweet, you will end up satisfying your sweet tooth after few bites. Regardless of what king of sweets eater you are, I think you should give this recipe a try.

I thought the flan was a little bit too sweet, in though I didn't use all the condense milk, I would recommend using 3/4. Next time, I will omit the coconut flakes inside, so it can be creamer. For the coconut flakes topping, probably better toasting & add little cinnamon.

My mom requested this, she is a flan lover and saw Paula make this. I made it exactly per the recipe and we both found it to be so sweet that we could not eat it. Also I would recommend leaving the coconut out because it messes up the texture.

A tip for carmelizing the sugar: add a little water (2 tbs to the sugar before you start cooking it. All the water boils off and you end up with the same final product, it just helps it happen faster and reduce the chances of burning it.
