I can't even tell if I like this or not. It has some good flavors individually, but it seemed alot of work between cooking the greens and ham hock to finally get an end result that was iffy. Won't be trying again.

I ended up growing surprise collard greens in my garden, so I was looking for a recipe in which I could use them and found this. Unfortunately, the collard greens were completely lost under all the FAT!
The base is not only tomatoes, but also mayonnaise AND cream cheese--that alone was a pile up on an 8 inch pizza. That sauce and the heaping mozzarella cheese overwhelmed what should be the stars of this pizza: the ham hocks and the collard greens. (And I omitted the bacon, cause there's already enough fat on this!
I'm not used to eating so heavy, so I was full with half a slice of this pizza. The good thing about this recipe is that it got me to try ham hocks for the first time. I didn't know they take 2 hours to cook, but they have a wonderful flavor and I'll try them in something lighter, like, soup.
A friend of mine who is a bigger fan of southern cooking liked this fine, but he, too, could only take a bite before filling up. And he liked the extra collard greens I'd cooked with the ham hocks and served on the side more, IMHO.
If I were to try this again, I'd probably cut out the mayonnaise, cream cheese and bacon altogether, and use less mozzarella. Ham hocks, marinara sauce, and collard greens with just a little cheese on top would be more my style.

I followed the recipe closely, but added anduoille sausage. Every year, at New Year's everyone brings a collard dish. This year, this was the hit with everyone!
Thanks
