Even a city girl from the North can cook these greens like any a true southerner.

Having never made collards befor it was great having the basics but I had to add more hot sauce and some other spices. Next time I think I will add onion too.

We cook several kinds of mixed greens together with the collarad greens in Texas. New Years for luck, it's black eyd peas and greens for money for the next year. I have always been taught that soda does make vegatables bright but takes the vitamins out. I will try the sugestion of adding sugar and see if my husband will eat more greens.

I have tried, with no luck, to make greens about 5 different times, and I just thought I would never get the hang of it. I watched an episode of Paula's show where she made these greens, and I thought to myself, "that looks easy enough, I will give it another try...". So, I went to my grocery store, picked up the greens, and about 2 and a half hours later, I was eating the most simple, and best tasting greens I have ever had!!! I would definitely recommend this recipe for anyone who wants greens with great taste, without all the hassle.

If your collard greens are tough (you can tell to tenderize put 4 tablespoon of baking soda in the pot. Not only does this bring out the flavor of the collard greens but it?s easy on the digestive system. Today I?m in a cooking mood I?ll surprise my significant other and his friends with some good Paula Deen stick to your ribs late winter cooking. We?re having a chilly weekend and I?m sure they?ll love my surprise. This is not the first recipe I?ve used from the Food Network. Thanks Paula for making my life easier.
