Since I have a son-in-law and two grandchildren who won't eat anything with raw onions in it, I substituted halved cherry tomatoes for the onion. The basil goes so well with tomato. And the colors were beautiful. The whole family loved it!

I actually got my family to eat this and that is saying something. The only thing I would do differently is maybe use less dressing on it.

This was a very tasty salad. I served it at a church function that was held outside and it was a hit and so colorful and light. Thanks Paula. Love your show!

This is first rate! It makes a huge amount of salad, so I'm not sure where the 4 servings comes from. For this large salad, to which I added some home grown tomatoes and cucumbers, I only used 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup rice vinegar, and added about a 1/4 cup of olive oil, which in my opinion is a necessary addition. I also didn't have the time to shuck, cook, and cut the corn so I used a frozen bag of shoepeg corn, but any bag of frozen baby corn would do. I've found that the larger cuts of corn are too tough for salads. As others have said, it's fantastic the second day. Throw in some shrimp or cooked chicken and some crusty bread, and it's a full meal.

This salad was surprisingly light and refreshing! I was a little concerned about the amount of sugar, but I like the recommendation to cut the sugar…will try that next time. Fantastic salad!

I prepared this recipe with a twist tonight. I left out the basil, and added a little spice with diced jalapeno peppers. It was a hit! It was light, refreshing, and flavorful. Simply delicious. Thank you Paula Deen!

This was an excellent salad and seeing Dustin Walls on the show was awesome. He was instrumental in helping my best friend (who has mutiple disabilities and I have, what I think was, a wonderful dining experience at The Lady & Sons many years ago.

I love this salad and have made it several times. I lighten the dressing a bit by adding water and cutting down on the sugar. I also soak the red onions in iced water to take the strong flavor and burn out of them (I don't like raw onions, but do like them if soaked. I use this recipie for friends and family gaterings.
