These were easy to prepare, however, I too thought they should have a spicy sauce to add some kick. Also, I used a teaspoon to drop the dough into the fryer instead of a tablespoon, because the fritters puffed up to be HUGE! I think these would be good with chili, because they turn out much like a cornbread muffin.

A+++ for simple easy to follow instructions!! I used my small deepfryer for these and they came out perfect. These are deffinetely NOT for someone watching their waist line, but it's a great comfort food. The fritters were very mild tasting so I would definetly use a sauce of somesort with them. We did not have any red peppers to make the sauce so we used a store baught vidalia blooming onion red sauce and ooohhhh YUMMY!!

This recipe was quick and easy and oh so good! When I was much younger my family went to a restaurant in Florida that served corn fritters with a touch of powdered sugar on them. I tried your recipe and loved them. Just for the heck of it I sprinkled powdered sugar on one and what memories it had brought back. Thank you Paula again and again for ALL your recipes.

I made this recipe to take to a fish fry, the overall taste was good especially right out of the fryer. However, even after adding jalapenos and juice to the mix it was still lacking that "wow" factor. I kept them warm by wrapping in foil and using the pyrex carry pack with the heated pouch and it worked well, I was just kind of dissappointed in the lack of flavor.

These were pretty tasty. I didn't have self rising cornmeal, so I had to make some from scratch (add bkng pwdr and salt to cornmeal, but they still came out tasty. I would add a little more sugar next time for a little bit more sweetness - and I might cut the recipe in half since this makes quite a lot (a little over 2 doz
