I made it this weekend for a BBQ (approx 25 people. Made the dish the night before a(I was a bit worried that the lettuce would get soggy - it didn't!!!. I did substitute craisins for raisins (for color. The bananas really are the secret ingrediant....I def would NOT omit them - they were pefect with the tartness of the dressing.

The dish was a hit - everyone asked for the recipe. Thank you Paula!!!

I consider myself a fairly adventerous cook, but I admit I was intimidated by this salad. Bananas with mayo? Scary! But I trusted Paula and made it as directed. WOW! It is delicious, my husband and two young children loved it, this is a keeper! Do NOT omit the bananas. They give it a special texture. I used yellow pepper and romaine lettuce, as well as pecans. Be brave and try it, you'll love it!

I prepared this layered salad for an event at work and got rave reviews and requests for the recipe and to make this my signature recipe. The one I bring to all events. Everyone was sceptical about bananas and raisins in this salad but agreed that it is a new taste they enjoy.

Paula outdid herself on this one and it doesn't even have that "little pat of butter". The first time I made it I got a few strange looks when people heard it had bananas in it. One taste and everyone raved. I have taken it to several pot lucks and always hear "you have to try this salad". Plan on leaving with an empty bowl!
