I wish I had read the reviews before I tried to make this recipe. I have no idea what I did wrong since I followed this recipe to the "T", but my two deep dish pies came out oozing from all sides after 30 min. Thank goodness I had cookie sheet underneath the pies. The parts that oozed out were cooked completely but the pies themselves were not. It was runny. I'm sad but I will try this recipe again a second time & hope that the reviews I read before give me the hope I'm looking for.

ok. first of all, thank you to everyone who warned about the cook time. and thank you to jamie from CT who reminded me to add baking powder to my all purpose flour (i didn't have self-rising. i halfed the recipe (but added more pecans : and used a frozed deep dish pie shell. baked it @ 350 for 55 minutes and it came out perfect. i let it sit room temp for about 3 hours and it cut well and the consistency is that of a fully-cooked, yet very chewy brownie. YUM. the pie shell's slight saltiness balanced out the sweetness of the pie filling. but it's so good, the filling would make the perfect brownie recipe. i never knew it was so easy! deee-lish.

I just finished watching the episode on television and the baking time is 50 to 60 minutes. That is what Paula said. After reading the reviews, this would make the difference.

I made this recipe the day after watching the show. On the show Paula said to bake 50-60 mins. The recipe said 40 mins. Wasn't sure which was right. I baked it for the 40 then decided 10 more mins. I've been baking
for 42 years, love chocolate, etc, but
I agree with another post, it was like a brownie with a pie crust. Who needs a crust when eating a brownie? I would
not make it again. I'll just make brownies next time and use my crusts for a real "pie".

This pie looked so good on tv. I made 2 pies today and I left them in the oven for 65 min! And I still feel like it was not done. The center was still too gooey. It was way too sweet! Next time I will put 1c of sugar instead of 2c. I used the self rising flour but it caved in after a couple minutes out of the oven. Not sure if I will make it again.

Delicious!! First pie I've ever made, and people raved about it. It's very sweet, though, so you can only eat a tiny piece. Of course, you keep going back, coz it's so delicious!

I live in Louisville, KY and have had many Derby pies, this is close but not exactly the same. Although it is so good, maybe they should have another horse race and use this pie as the theme dessert! LOL!
I made this in 2 deep dish crusts and had to return it to the oven. You will need to cook 2 deep dish pies about 50 - 60 minutes. Very rich and chocorific! We served it with vanilla ice cream and it was wonderful! Thanks Paula and Food Network!
