I followed the recipe exactly and even topped the potatoes with cheddar cheese before serving them as some others suggested. I did peel the potatoes and used an electric mixer to mash them. They just had NO taste. I think adding the cottage cheese made very little difference to the flavor. I wouldn't waste your time on these. Instant mashed potatoes with a little sour cream and sharp cheddar would be better.

This is quickly becoming a family favorite and my daughter's friends actually request that I make it. It is great with or without the onions.

This was wonderful. My husband is hooked on them now. I have been looking for something different to serve to my "meat & potatoes guy" and have found one he just loves! This one is so quick and easy. That's what I like about your recipes..thanks Paula!
The last time I fixed them I added a can or sweet corn to them just for fun. Corn is my husband's favorite vegetable. Why dirty another pot, right?! smile
P.S. I'm enjoying your cookbooks too.

Fabulous first time around, then even better put in a skillet and heated the next morning with eggs and bacon! Paula we never doubt you! Oh, and those who find the taste somewhat bland may be using unsalted butter or margarine? If you use the real stuff, salted butter, it's a dream!!

These potatoes are great! My whole family loves them. I make sure to chop the onion fine so that they are not too crunchy.

I couldn't taste the cottage cheese at all. I prefer mashed potatoes over this recipe. I added shredded cheddar cheese to the top of one half of the casserole dish (per the suggestions here and I liked that side much better. Still I prefer mashed potatoes with sage brown butter and goat cheese.

My husband really liked this recipe, my son wasn't crazy because he didn't like the onions. When I make this next time, I will saute the onions so they won't be so crunchy and will also add shredded cheddar cheese.

    Paula is still the best!
