Love you Paula but you forgot Old Bay. As a Maryland native all crab cake MUST include this ingredient.

Good flavor, but way too runny to make into cakes, flour and fry. We used lump crab and I thought maybe you needed the smaller pieces for it to stick together. Will not use this recipe again. Sorry Paula.

this is a good basic crab cake recipe. i'm not a fan of using anythng but fresh or organic ingredients so the ritz crackers bothered me a little. but it really worked well in this recipe. i might use something with less additives next time though. i made them for a dinner party and everyone loved them. thanks paula.

Excellent -- a family favorite now.

I agree with the first reviewer -- BAKING it instead of frying is the right way to go.

Also, while Ritz crackers are the preferred method is excellent -- replacing it with Panko or good bread crumbs, i.e. as in trader Joe's do just as well.

Substituting shallots for spring onion is also good,

My husband and I loved these crab cakes - - - and I have been making crab cakes for 37 years, but wanted to try something new. The Ritz crackers are the special ingredient in my opinion. I use red bell pepper, honey mustard (instead of the dry, and Old Bay instead of the cayenne. I also bake instead of dredge and fry. Just brush with a little melted butter and bake at 430 until golden on top and you don't have to worry about them falling apart!

These are the best crabcakes!!!! Awesome, fantastic, totally yummy. I had a back up plan for my picky husband who I didn't think would even try them - He loved them, I did melt some mozarella on the top of his and gave him some melted butter. He said " I could eat those once a week!!!!" I did put 2/3 cup of crackers in and you have to make sure the crab is dried off a little. Paula you are the best. When you said Best Dishes you are absolutely correct!!!!! Thanks a lot!

I just made these for dinner and they were delicious, however I am glad we didn't have company over for dinner because they were all falling apart. I found it very difficult to keep them in little cakes. I basically doubled the amount of crackers to the recipe and that did help somewhat. I read some of the suggestions from other readers, and next time I will be sure to dry of the crab pieces really well, and put in the fridge to chill a bit. They were so good that I just wouldn't not want to make this recipe again. I just would like the presentation to be a little nicer.

This recipe is fantastic. I changed it up a little. I did not put the green peppers in. I did add a little bit of Sesame Seed oil. My husband loved them.

Made it tonight for first time and my husband raved on and on. He is not a lover of crab cakes but said he thinks they were the best.Wants me to put on list to have soon. Easy recipe and not much prep work. Recipe changes were to chill before frying, fried in butter, added 1/4c of finely chopped celery and 1/4c bell pepper. He liked the crunchy texture. Just dusting the patty was also important. Side dishes were cooked asparagus and grits.

I made these for dinner tonight with just a few minor changes. I used 2 T. of mayo & 2 T. of greek yogurt rather than the full 1/4 c. of mayo. I omitted the green peppers since my husband & daughter aren't fans. I also chilled the crab cakes in the fridge for an hour before I sauteed them & they held together just fine. We loved the taste of the crab cakes & this recipe will be going in my permanent recipe file.
