I made this over the holidays as an appetizer - a bit pricey though. I added on top of the crab cake, two seared scallops and one shrimp on top held together by an "invisible" toothpick. The lemon dill sauce, to my taste, needed more lemon zest than called for and it was a little too watery. Next time I think that I'll use less buttermilk. Overall, try this as it's very good!

I didn't actually try the crab cakes. I was making a different recipe, but I wanted a sauce to go with them so I went to the foodnetwork site and found this one. The dill sauce is so good. I would use it as a salad dressing as well. I think the sauce was better than the actual crab cakes. They were good, but the sauce was just exceptional.

These crab cakes were easy to make and were restaurant quality! The sauce was the finishing touch and was also very simple but delicous!

These are the best homemade crab cakes I've ever had. and the sauce is spectacular! I made the sauce the night before and the flavors really married together- it tasted like a lemon-dill ranch sauce. Really delicious, and I think it goes over grilled salmon very nicely as well. The cakes were very good, my only complaint is that crab is so expensive! I paid $20 for a pound of lump meat. Also they were very delicate- almost fell apart - I think next time i make these I'll make them mini as appetizers, which will help them not break in two as I try to turn them in the pan.

This is probably the best recipe for Crab Cakes that I have ever tried. This Dill Sause was a little rich, but I am going to try using half as much mayo next time and substitute yogurt or light sour cream.
