Ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni (an 8-ounce box isn't quite 2 cups)
  • 4 tablespoons (1/2 stuck) butter, cut into pieces
  • 2 1/2 cups (about 10 ounces) grated sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 (10 3/4-ounce) can condensed Cheddar cheese soup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Boil the macaroni in a 2 quart saucepan in plenty of water until tender, about 7 minutes. Drain. In a medium saucepan, mix butter and cheese. Stir until the cheese melts. In a slow cooker, combine cheese/butter mixture and add the eggs, sour cream, soup, salt, milk, mustard and pepper and stir well. Then add drained macaroni and stir again. Set the slow cooker on low setting and cook for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.

I make this recipe every Sunday for my family and they love it. Im from the south where normally I would but the Mac and... Cheese in the oven but this way is not bad plus it frees up the oven for something else. The only thing is I didnt use 3 eggs I uset just one 3 would have been too much but over all with the addition of the soup its very good.Read more

Followed the directions to a T and boy is it GROSS. It is the most flavorless, nastiest texture ever! I made sure to mix it... very well and stirred it every half hour. It looks like macaroni in scrambled eggs. Now my hubby is on his way home and I don't know what to feed him for dinner, UGH!Read more

Ok, y'all, it is now football season! And that means we Southern gals need to make our men folk happy! So I tried this recipe... today. And we in our family have two VERY picky men when it comes to mac-n-cheese. Well, let's just say -- this one here pleased BOTH men. Hmmm. And I have to say, I liked it very much, myself. I truly believe that this recipe is good for people who really like the kind of recipe that "stands up" rather than the recipe that is very soupy. I, myself, am not picky about mac-n-cheese recipes. I love 'em all. But this one I really do like, b/c it has some 'body" to it and doesn't slop all over the plate.Read more

This is a really good recipe. It would be great for a big gathering because it's so easy. The recipe says 12 servings. I... can see no way to feed 12 people on this amount of food. It will make 4 good servings. It is yummy!Read more
