I had to cook mine a little longer. I think it all depends on your oven. We add nuts to our and they are soo good. Everyone loves them, even my husband who does not like mint that much.

These brownies taste like Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies. They're yummy, but don't cook them as long as she suggests and you'll be fine.

These brownies were like cake and not chewy like brownies should be. I only used half the amount of Andes mints in them, and they were so overpowering I could not eat them. I will say, though, that my female friends loved them, while my male friends hated them. Don't know what's up with that. All in all, I would not make these again. Isn't there a recipe out there somewhere for just good old chewy, fudgy brownies???

This is a great brownie! I cut up the mint candies on top of the frosting like a previous reviewer suggested and it worked perfectly!

i have to say, i love to bake, but i usually don't end up eating what i make - and i'm especially not usually thrilled about brownies or chocolate mint, but these brownies are WONDERFUL! i ate 3 last night before bed...i couldn't help it : instead of shaving the andes mints for on top, i ground mine up in the food processor, and instead of milk i used half & half for the frosting, but other than that, i went by the recipe and it was the easiest thing to make! they are so good, and though they look really rich, they aren't. and though they smell excessively minty, they are not. they are "just right"!!

Paula's recipe calls for unsweetened cocoa powder, but does she mean natural unsweetened cocoa powder or dutch process unsweetened cocoa powder? From what I've read, that could make a big difference in the outcome of the recipe. I don't want to try it until I'm sure I am using the right kind of cocoa powder.
Since the recipe also calls for baking powder, I assume she means dutch process unsweetened cocoa powder. If I use natural unsweetened cocoa powder, like Ghiradelli, I'm afraid it won't turn out right.

I am not a fan of intense chocolate or peppermint flavoring, but this was the perfect combination for me. Very delicious. I plan on making these again very soon. The only problem I encountered was trying to strip the Andes mints. I must not have the correct tool. But, it looks and tastes great even if it is not as appealing as the picture.

I love these brownies, I can't stop eating them! I tried them the night I made them and thought they were only so-so, but when I tried them again the next afternoon, they were so good! I will definitely make them the day before I plan to eat them next time. I did make a couple changes because I couldn't find the andes chips or chocolates. I put regular chocolate chips in the brownies. Then in the frosting I substituted peppermint extract for the vanilla and sprinkled the top with crushed up candy canes. They're tasty and very festive, I plan to make them for my next Christmas party.

I also reduced the amount of Andes mints and broke them apart. The brownies were perfect especially when you bit into a surprise bite with the chocolate and the mint flavor. They were defenitely not as dense as most brownie recipes which made them even better. Wait a few minutes for cooling before you cut into them. I did not make the frosting. Powdered sugar is fine.
