These brownies are so easy to make and are delish! I actually made three types of brownies with this recipe. I made the cream de menth, i made plain, and some with walnuts. My personal favorite was with the walnuts. It is easy to use what ever you have in the pantry. My family couldn't get enough.

I just wanted a plain brownie recipe that used powdered chocolate because that was all I had on hand. I guess I'm used to boxed brownies because these were dry and I wanted that greasy brownie.

EXCELLENT recipe when you follow the directions. It seems like most of the people complaining didn't follow the directions, or used the wrong ingredients. If you're having trouble finding the Andes baking chips outside of the x-mas season then you can find them at Wal-Mart. I hate that place, but it was the only place I could find the chips. The brownies were moist, very minty, and rich, but not nearly as rich as some people on here make them out to be. I did not alter the recipe at all and they were amazing as is. Shaving the mints for the topping was a pain since 1/3 of each melted while shaving them, and prep time actually took me a little longer, but overall the it was quite easy and smooth to follow. EXCELLENT desert to follow any meal!

I have made this recipe several times now. Its always a big hit. My daughters friends ask me to make it for their parties and so on now.

I did have difficulty finding the mints. I went to about 6 different stores, and in the end found it in Walmart of all places!

Its easy to put together, and very tasty.

these brownies were one of the best ive ever had!
my family however believed the icing made it a little too sweet, so next time i might cut down on the amount.
instead of using the shaved pieces, i reserved about 1/4 cup of the chips so i could top the brownies!
wonderful recipe overall, brownie points for paula!

I had never made brownies from scratch. These were easy and very delicious. I made them for our HUGE annual Christmas Eve get-together and they were almost as big a hit as Santa!

I made this exactly as stated, and was disappointed, especially after reading the glowing reviews.

It took 50 (not 35 minutes to bake, and even then the top was all flaky and fell apart. Don't cut these until thoroughly cooled.

I used Andes creme de menthe chips bought at Costco World Market.

To save time and money, make your favorite brownie recipe and add mint flavoring. Perhaps the frosting is good; I thought there are enough unhealthy ingredients (white sugar, butter, white flour that I didn't want to kill us any earlier/make us any fatter. We enjoyed very small pieces under peppermint stick ice cream -- a once-in-a-hopefully-long-lifetime event.

I wouldn't make these again, though I'm glad I tried the recipe, y'all.

Ever since I saw this episode, I've been trying to find Andes Creme d'Menthe candies. My neighborhood Walgreens sold out unexpectedly. When I asked the manager about them the other day, he said that every store in the region was out and that they were wiped out at the warehouse as well. I laughed and asked if he knew why. No. "Because Paula Deen used them in a brownie recipe." Such is the power of Food Network's Stars!
