My husband is a basic meat and potatoes man. When he saw this in the preparation stage, he asked, "Are you experimenting with me again?" When it got to the table, though, he could not get enough!!! He even ate the extra chicken mix over the Mexican rice. The receipe is simple and quick. What does he say now? This is it, baby!!!!

I watched the show that Patricia Jinich was on with Paula and after these were complete, Paula was going through the roof while she was eating them. I decided after reviewing the recipe that these looked easy enough for a novice. I followed the recipe exactly except for the serrano chile. I was cooking this for my family with three young kids and didn't want the heat from the serrano. Not overly familiar with Mexican cooking, I decided to use the jalapeno pepper in place of the serrano. The jalapeno (I completely seeded it did not lend any heat to the salsa verde, but it did add a nice flavor. I do have to say, with so many steps going on, I added the cilantro and onion to the blender and pureed them with the tomatillos not realizing until later that I was supposed to mix them in chopped after pureeing the tomatillos. I was actually happy with my mistake and liked the consistency of the salsa. The flavor of these fried tacos was absolutely worth the work that went into them. The salsa verde added such great flavor to the already delicious tacos. The great thing about these tacos is that you don't need the salsa to enjoy them (my husband and kids enjoyed them without the salsa--could have used the serrano afterall however, I thoroughly enjoyed the complete package. I was thrilled by how much the kids and husband really enjoyed these. I made the white rice to go with them (recipe is part of the show and the whole meal was a complete hit. Be forewarned, these are not done quickly. There are a lot of steps, but they are easy enough to follow. If you enjoy the process of cooking, you will be well rewarded with these succulent, crunchy tacos. Thank you Patricia for this amazing recipe!

Loved this show today! Paula and Patty were great together. Patty could be her own host for Mexican food, but she and Paula did have great chemistry. Can't wait to taste the tacos. We are making them tonight!
