I have been making this recipe for several years now. I get rave reviews every time I make it! I do cut the amount of apple sauce I use to about 10oz or so, otherwise it does tend to be pretty runny. Otherwise I don't change a thing! This recipe is definitely a keeper :

I made this tonight! It has a great taste, but it did come out runny. It is more like falling apart, lol! But it still tastes delicious!! This is my first time, so I am feeling pretty good about it. How can I get it to look pretty? Maybe laying it on top of something or putting it in something cute. Any ideas? Thanks

Loved it when I made it just to have in the house. Only thing I really changed was a little less apple sauce, and I like to mix apples in my pies instead of all Granny Smith. Fuji was on sale when I went so i used those and a few grannys. Making 2 for a pot luck at my school and 1 for the family to enjoy for Thanksgiving. Thanks Paula :

I just made this last night and it was AMAZING! Next time I will probably use a little less applesauce because it turned out a little runny but everyone loved it! I love Paula!!

OMG......so I did a combo of fuji and granny smith. I added cinnamon and allspice to the apples, and also to the crumb topping. I doubled the crumb topping and did half white sugar and half brown sugar. I baked for the time it said, then I dusted it w/more white sugar while it was hot so it would be pretty and crystalize a little as it cooled ; THIS PIE IS INCREDIBLE!! SO SIMPLE AND FAST!! PERFECT FOR FIRST TIME PIE BAKERS : I also made homemade caramel sauce and drizzled that on top of the pie, for my slice. I can't believe out of all the reviews I read before I made this pie, that NO ONE mentioned a caramel sauce. IT WAS DIVINE!!

Awesome! I didn't have applesauce on hand, so I made it without, and I used 1/2 cup of sugar instead and used a little more cinnamon. It was great! My husband loved it! Perfect quick recipe!!!!!

Best Apple Pie recipe ever!! I have made this pie several times now and it is always a huge hit! Everyone loves it and asks for it again and again. I would, however, like to comment on the fact that everyone is saying to use half the amount of applesauce. I have used the full 16 ounces every single time and my pie has never come out too runny. If it is a tad runny upon taking it out of the oven, it will thicken as it cools. Also, your ratio of applesauce to sliced apples might be a tad off so try adding more apples. I usually end up with about 4 cups of thinly sliced apples measured in a large 4 cup measuring cup. It should all fit into the pie crust nicely without overflowing or going past the rim of the pie plate. I also use a mixture of half Granny Smith and half Pink Lady. I find that the tartness and the sweetness balances quite nicely.

Easy to follow and everyone loved it. I might put a little less sugar in next time.

The apple pie was delicious! The crumble came out perfect. However, the filling was a little too liquidy. I used half of a can of applesauce. If I were to make it again, I would take out the applesauce or only use a little bit of it. Otherwise, great tasting!

This pie was delicious and super easy to make. My crumble didn't come out quite right (more grainy than lumpy and never browned up, but the filling was perfect! I did half the applesauce as others suggested and it came out great.
