This pie felt like a cheat to real apple pie. It was ok, but for the result I could have just bought a similar store bought pie. I'd rather take the extra time to make a really fabulous pie at home.

I made this pie for Christmas and it was excellent! I have never made a pie before and got rave reviews for this. Family members thought this was better than my mother in laws! A woman who has been cooking/baking since she was little. I have to say apple sauce is the key to this apple pie. Yum!

I made this pie for my Thanksgiving family get together and it was a huge hit. No one could believe that I had actually made it since it looked so good! I'm now making it for Christmas, and I think it's going to turn into a family request.

I made this pie the first time for my family and received rave reviews. I followed suggestions to use less applesauce and more apples. I used cinnamon applesauce and made the homemade crust versus frozen. The crust was a huge hit. Several in my family said it was the best apple pie they ever had! Good job, Paula!

This is a great recipe. I edited mine a bit the second time to make it a little easier and it was so good! Love Paula, love this recipe!

I made this for Thanksgiving and it was the best apple pie we have ever had.
I bought premade pie crust to make it easier and then I made a few more changes that made all the difference. I used 4 different types of apples, granny smith, honey crisp, braeburn, and golden delicious. Those were the apples recommended in one of Alton Brown's receipes. Then I only added half of the applesacue that Paula calls for. I also added extra topping for the crisp. It truly was an awesome pie. It is a keeper. My family is still talking about it.
Thank you Paula for an awesome receipe.

I made this pie for my family for Thanksgiving and it was delicious. I used 1/2 granny smith and 1/2 Fugi apples and cinnamon applesauce and only cut back on the applesauce a tiny bit. I doubled the crunch topping as well and sprinkled some cinnamon sugar on the top too. Not only was this pie easy to make, but my family raved about how good it was. The filling held together and the texture from the applesauce was amazing...especially ala mode!!!

I admit I cut way back on applesauce, but that seemed to be too much liquid. It was a tasty apple pie, but not rally memorable.

I made this at the last minute for Thanksgiving with refridgerated crust (to save time. I was nervous bringing an untested recipe to someone's home but with all of the fabulous things we had to eat all day, the pie was the only thing people could talk about. Thanks Paula.

I made this apple pie for my family on Thanksgiving also using the recipe for Paula's Perfect Pie Crust and everyone loved it. People went on and on about how great the pie was and It was pretty easy to make. I will say that I used some of the other reviewers suggestions and only used about 8oz of Cinnamon Applesauce and doubled the crunch topping. Both modifications worked perfectly.
