This was great! So easy and my family loved it! Yummy, Paula...thank you.

For those who are lecturing the readers on gluttoney and obesity....please don't. It's none of your business what others do and if you choose not to make this recipe, that's fine. Just don't rate it!

I love this. I actually had something similar at TGIFriday's but this is so much better with the bacon wrapped around. Yummmiii!!! And I'm a beginner. I don't even know how to make rice but this is so simple.

Everyone in my family loves this recipe, even the ones (like me who normally don't like Mac and Cheese. I do make several changes though:
1 I don't fry it 'cause even when I double the recipe, leftovers never survive until morning, if they did I suspect they would likely be eaten for breakfast.
2 I use 50% Sharp Cheddar, and 50% a blend of whatever other cheeses I have on hand (Parmagano Reggiano, Pepper Jack, Provolone, Havarti, Swiss, Etc.
3 I use Heavy Cream instead of Milk in hopes Paula will forgive me for not frying it. :
4 I use the onion/bacon/garlic/thyme topping from Tyler's Ultimate "Mac 'N Cheese with Bacon and Cheese". ( http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_35369,00.html

Great for kids, a midnight munchie attack or comforting for a hangover. Its probably a heartattack on a plate but yummy.

I have been dying to make these for a while. Just a quick question..... Once the mac and cheese mixture is in the casserole dish, do you bake it first then chill it before cutting it into squares? or is there no baking necessary? Just chill, dredge and fry?

My absolute favorite dinner is Macaroni and Cheese. This is an excellent recipe. I do recommend very lean bacon as if you use bacon with more fat, it will not cook up in the short time you are deep frying. This is just as good reheated in the microwave after it's fried for the next day's lunch.
