Honey mustard sauce was awful, it just tasted like mayonnaise. Dill pickles would be much better. Cornmeal made for a bad texture on the pickles.

Superb Paula!!!! I live in Alabama, I have never tasted fried pickles before. I went to St. Louis, Missouri in July and my cousin brought some. Then I told my husband that I hope Paula have a recipe for fried pickles. I am 28 years old and my mother and grandmother have passed away and I want to thank you God and Paula for helping me to be a good cook and baker.

I would highly recommend this dish. I made these for my birthday lunch and I can't tell you how many raving reviews I received. It was a crowd-pleaser and favorite among my friends.
I would definitely recommend placing the pickles in the dry mix (cornmeal, flour, etc, then placing it in the egg wash and again dip it into the dry mix. it allows the cornmeal to stay attached to the pickle - so don't skip this step! Also, after deep-frying, I would place the pickles on a cooling rack, so the crispiness doesn't go away. If you don't have a rack, don't worry about it -- I didn't either, so I ended up being macguyver and placed them on top of 4 pairs of chopsticks across a plate - it worked out great as a rack! - and the pickles were nice and crunchy.
As for the sauce ... it was delicious. The only comment I would make is reduce the mayonnaise amount by a half. The sauce recipe will make more than you need.

I had nothing to compare it with. I'm from the South and had heard about it and wanted to try it. I followed the instructions and thought it was very good. I especially liked the sauce. It went extremely well with it. I used the dill rounds

I acidentally bought Vlasic Zesty Bread and Butter pickles by accident (they have heat in them and made these. Oh my god, they are the bomb. I won't ever fry dill pickles again. We went through 2 jars of them. I didn't even have time to make the sauce. The 11 year old declared them to be the best thing she's ever eaten.
