i made this just last night. i read the comments about the canned corned beef and i didnt get it. i guess because i've been used to corned canned beef ever since i was a kid. but good one paula! i loved it!

i just used 2 tbsp of olive oil instead of butter and drained some of the bacon grease. definitely will make again!

Thank you Paula for ruining my St. Patrick's Day. This is the worst recipe I've ever tried on this website.

Skip the greasy, over processed canned meat product. If you want real flavor used sliced Corned Beef from the Deli... or better yet cook one of your own and use left overs. Its worth the effort. I'm sorry but no good meat ever came from a can.

Paula - We LOVE you for your stick of butter, cup of mayonnaise and rasher of bacon recipes. However, this economical-comfort food recipe is so tasty I'm afraid it will clog the arteries of thousands of adults and children.

Everyone who reads this recipe should make the following changes to make it a more healthy meal:

Slice and steam the canned corned beef to melt off and reduce the fat or get some thick sliced corned beef from your grocery store Deli.

Use 2 tablespoons of ollive oil to coat your cabbage and use 1/2 cup of fat-free beef bouillon to cook.

Use 1/2 pack of pre-cooked bacon or use a micowave bacon rack to cook your own so you can discard the fat or pour it over your dog's dry food to give them a special treat.

My variation costs about $3 more for a 4 person household but it will save about $58K in expense for a single heart 'stent' later in life.

Child, Hebrew National has sliced corned beef and pastrami in packages in the deli section. Sliced thinly, but very flavorful. Good quality meat. Or, at the deli, get some Boar's Head corned beef sliced the way you want it, but please, if you can't make your own brisket, never substitute a can!

You have got to be kidding me! Canned corned beef? Not only is that disgusting, but wrong, so so very wrong! This is awful. How can you call opening a can of corned beef, a recipe?

Let's try this one again, Paula.

I understand that time is money but there are a lot better options for a quick meal then this one. If you like the canned meat then go for it, but canned corn beef isn't good.

This is very easy to make. I did not use canned corned beef, however, as I do not like how grainy it is. I bought a corned beef brisket and cut it up into cubes. I did not trim the fat well enough, so that made it a little too chewy for me. I will use this recipe again, however, I will use a little more black pepper and maybe a few more slices of bacon to give it a bit more flavor.
