I love this recipe! I did "tweak it" a bit though. I don't like the idea of raw eggs, so I heat about 1/3 cup of my heavy cream and then "temper" the eggs before I add the sweetened condensed milk and I only use about 2 teaspoons of vanilla.
My daughter made two batches for a picnic this weekend and she made one with the Oreos and then added fudge inbetween layers of the ice cream. Wow it was good! Then she made a Milkyway and caramel swirl too. They were both big hits with everyone!
That is the great thing about this recipe, you can tweat it so many different ways!

I think that this recipe was well put together. I also think that it sounds very tasty and easy to make. I do love cookies and cream ice cream so instead of buying it, it'll be nice to try and make it. I havn't tried it yet, but do plan to.

I have never reviewed a recipe before and have to be honest, I haven't made this one, but I had to rate it and wouldn't dare bring Paula's rating down with 1 star. I watch Paula 2x per day, sometimes more when I tivo, or when there are specials on. I Love Paula, I truly do, and the review where someone commented that paula has bad food safety habits really has irritated me since I read it several months ago. Paula makes no secret that she loves to cook for her children and Michael FIRST AND FOREMOST. the name of her show is HOME COOKING. I doubt your children watch over you demanding you wash your hands between ever step or tasting. If you think Paula has the same habits when she cooks in her restaurant, you must really be new to Paula's personality. She is a delightful, profesionally lady and I wish she were my mother!! If I ever get to the South I'd drive for a full day and stand in line for hours to eat in her restaurant. If you are too uptight to eat at The Lady and Sons, stay home, that means all the more for ME!!! :- PS: This is only MY little ol' opinion for what its worth....

The recipe was so simple, it was hard to believe how great it taste. I made it with my two daughters (6 and 9. It taste so rich and creamy.

Thanks Paula, This is one of the easiest recipes I have ever done. Everyone loved the ice cream. I did use sweetened condensed milk - I'm sure that's what you meant. Keep the recipes coming. MPB

I've watched the way Paula makes this recipe. One comment for the "food police" Paula wipes and never puts her hands in the food and licks her fingers while making this recipe. If you watch she has a towel and wipes her hands several time. So lighten up. I have yet to poison anyone by cooking and I'd bet Paula hasnt either. 2ndly to the condensed milk issue...yes it is sweetened condensed milk. Hope this clears the air. And I'm glad to display my name and city!

My daughter and I made this. I figured it would be easy--never thought it would actually taste so great! We had a fun time making it but an even better time devouring it after dinner! Thanks, Paula!
