I know in the South that the trend is to prepare meals that aren't exactly on the light or healthy side. I mean, it's on of the things I love about living in Georgia. You can always find a good FULL fat and flavored dish anywhere you go, but when is enough, enough? When do you draw the line between comfort and killer? I am thinking it's this sandwich. I mean really do we need to have fried cheese on any sandwich?

    *sigh*

First off, the grease trucks were independent and not owned by the University when the Darrell was invented so Rutgers shouldn't really get much credit. Second, Darell was actually on the episode when Paula made the sandwich so I think she did the best she could. Last, The Fat Moon is ten times better-bacon, eggs, chicken fingers, french fries, lettuce, mayo, and ketchup.Combine that with a mango madness snapple and you have yourself a hangover cure for any occasion. Go Scarlet Knights!!!

I know Paula does not present herself as any sort of healthy cook and I appreciate that (unlike some other hosts on FN who shall remain nameless, but Man oh Man! This sounds like enough food for several meals.

You don't have to be austere to be healthy. I could see going for individual components of this but the whole thing? No way. Sorry.

All the fried elements are better just on their own as a guilty pleasure... My boyfriend and I made a smaller version and cut it into finger sandwiches for a possible snack for our upcoming superbowl party. It tastes like a mushy greasy mess when put together!

A Fat Darrell is NOT a Fat Darrell unless it comes from the grease trucks! I'm disappointed Paula gave no credit to the original, and the best Fat sandwiches. Next will be her Fat Cat and Fat Mojo recipes. What crud.

While the recipe may not be "stolen", credit should be given to the Rutgers Grease Trucks. Even the name has been "stolen". Rutgers Grease Trucks could give Paula a run for her money on heart-stopping food.

Listen, people. It's called the FAT DARRELL. What were you expecting? Crudite on a wheat wrap?? Paula is fabulous. If nothing else, she makes you feel better about your own eating regime!

I agree with another reviewer who said it's ok to indulge once in awhile. I love Paula. She doesn't pretend to be offering low cal recipes so if that's what you are looking for than you're better off watching a show that does. Don't put her down for the way she likes to cook though! You don't have to watch or eat what she makes although alot of her recipes can be adapted to be more figure friendly..
